Sadly after many years Councillor Stephen Evans has had to stand down from representing Chapel St Leonards Ward on East Lindsey District Council. We wish Stephen all the the best for the future and thank him for all his hard work in the area.
Alan Vassar, who lives and works locally, has been selected as our Conservative candidate for the by election, campaigning has already begun with Alan stating the below
"Im not just your Local Conservative candidate in this by-election, but as someone who lives and works among you—who understands the challenges we face because I face them too.
Many of you know me from my work in Anderby, or through the local charities I’ve supported over the years. Whether it’s helping vulnerable neighbours, supporting community events, or rolling up my sleeves during times of crisis, I’ve always believed that service starts with showing up. I’ve previously served as a District Councillor, where I focused on Planning and Flooding—two issues that matter deeply to our area. I’ve seen first-hand how poor decisions can impact our homes, our roads, and our way of life. That’s why I’m standing again: to bring practical experience, local knowledge, and a steady hand to the decisions that affect us all.
I know this by-election comes at a time when many feel uncertain. The Reform candidate is well-liked, and I respect anyone who steps up to serve. But I believe this election is about more than popularity—it’s about who can deliver, who understands the system, and who will fight for our community with both heart and know-how.
As your Local Conservative candidate, I’m committed to:
• Protecting our villages from over development and ensuring planning respects our rural character
• Tackling flooding with long-term solutions, not quick fixes
• Keeping council tax low while safeguarding essential services
• Supporting local charities and volunteers who are the backbone of our community
• Standing up for farmers, small businesses, and the people who keep our local economy going
I’m proud of our community—its resilience, its kindness, and its spirit. I want to be your voice in the council chamber: someone who listens, who understands, and who gets things done.2
I’ll be out speaking with as many of you as I can up until the election on November 13th.
