The Father of the House at Boston Supper Club

A full house of 80 members and supporters enjoyed the January Supper Club at the Boston & County Club with guest speaker The Rt. Hon. Sir Edward Leigh MP for Gainsborough and Father of the House of Commons accompanied by his wife Lady Mary.

Sir Edward spoke about his 42 years in Parliament with fascinating recollections of his times working with Conservative Party leaders including Margaret Thatcher and Boris Johnson.

Among his various roles Sir Edward was Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee for 10 years investigating waste and seeking value for money in public expenditure.

Sir Edward gave us the benefit of his long experience and views on current affairs and talked about the revival of the Conservative Party based on true Conservative values and principles in order to win the next genera election in due time.

The Conservative Party Candidate for the Greater Lincolnshire Mayor, Cllr. Rob Waltham MBE also met with members and spoke about his vision for Greater Lincolnshire enabling the spending of money and investment to be determined locally and not by politicians and civil servants in Westminster so that the needs and aspirations of Lincolnshire people will be better served.

Rob has been the leader of North Lincolnshire Unitary Council since 2017 and has spent some 20 years working in local government giving him the knowledge and experience to be a successful Mayor of Greater Lincolnshire.

Boston’s next Supper Club will be on Friday 21st March 2025 at the Boston & County Club
